Earlier this week, Radiohead briefly erased their entire online presence… and then, on Tuesday, their official website was brought back with a brand new music video, “Burn the Witch.”
Directed by Chris Hopewell of Jackknife (who also did the video for Radiohead’s “There There”), the “Burn the Witch” clip is a stop-motion ode to the 1973 film The Wicker Man.
The phrase “Burn the Witch” appeared in the artwork to Radiohead’s 2003 album, Hail to the Thief. The song was then teased on subsequent tours but never played in full. The song’s arrival was recently teased in a mysterious leaflet sent to the band’s U.K. fans.
The band has stated that “Burn the Witch” will be available via all digital services starting at midnight tonight.
It is believed that “Burn the Witch” is likely the lead single from Radiohead’s forthcoming new album, about which no details have been officially confirmed.
