‘Captain America Civil War’ opens worldwide today and I saw it this morning..
First.. the trailer..
Where to start? Might as well start with the most obvious thing.. IT’S AWESOME! Holy sh!t is it good!
It’s the third Captain America movie and the best of the bunch which is saying something because the first 2 were very good.. particularly The Winter Soldier. This movie has got some awesome fight scenes and they blow a ton of stuff up but it also features an incredibly interesting and deep plot. There really is no villain. There’s people stirring the pot for sure but no Ultron, Red Skull or Loki type character, making the main antagonist to Captain America, Iron Man which makes the plot challenging (in a good way) because what if you, like me, don’t agree with Captain America? What if you’re on Iron Man‘s side? The wedge that’s driven between the 2 is impossibly complex and makes it very difficult to say either man is wrong in what they believe or why they believe it. It’s really a different story and far darker in spots than I anticipated it being.
The action is GREAT, the plot is smart and deep. It’s a well paced movie. The cameos are fantastic! Oh annnnnnd Spider-Man is PERFECT! FINALLY They nailed Spider-man. Sony got out of the way and let Marvel do it’s thing and the results are so so so great.
I’ve heard a bunch that it’s the best Marvel Studio’s movie to date and maybe it’s just the afterglow I’m currently living in but I’m finding that pretty damn hard to disagree with.
Spider-man alone is worth the price of admission.
