There was a happy-sad story making the rounds online last month. A guy bought a vinyl copy of Soundgarden’s Superunknown album from an online store.
When it arrived, he opened it up to find a note inside. It read “Dear Collector: Just in case you want to know where this record is coming from. I am Mark’s mother. Mark left us in 2002. He suffered a heart attack while running. Mark collected music while attending college. I would ask him on occasional “What do you want me to do with all this music if something should happen to you?” “Listen to it, Mom,” he would say. Well, I did listen to a few but now it’s time to share them. It is good therapy for me to see this music being shared all over the world. The money will go to his son’s education. Thank you for your support. And when you play it, play it loud for Mark. Cheers, Sabine.”
What a great mom, huh?
