While Nirvana will forever remain legendary, it’s important to give Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters the credit they deserve.
In terms of hit songs, Dave has written many more than Kurt ever did. The Foos have put out three times as many albums, too. The Foos have sold out Wembley Stadium many times and played all kinds of sold-out tours.
And this from a guy who had just one single song on any Nirvana release. It was a song called “Marigold” and to find it, you have to locate the CD single for “Heart-Shaped Box.” It’s the very last bonus track on the disc.
If you’re a super-fan, here’s an assignment. See if you can track down a cassette-only release from a band called Late! which was released in 1992. That’s a Dave Grohl solo album. Almost no one ever heard of it and those who did hear it had no idea that the guy behind it would end up selling tens of millions of records.
