When Rougned Odor hit Jose Bautista during the Blue Jays-Rangers game, on that fateful day in mid-May, Blue Jay-fans of all ages were rocked by that punch.
From analysts, to celebrities, to 4th graders? Yes, even they were upset with the way the bench clearing brawl took place. Although Odor received a 7-game suspension, and Bautista a 1-game suspension for his role, a 4th Grade class from Toronto’s Humbercrest Public School decided that the ensuing penalties were a little light.
They decided to write a letter to the MLB’s commissioner, Rob Manfred, and totally tore into him about how if they were to get into a fight at school, they would get punishments ranging from skipping out on recess, to a detention, all the way up to a 15-day suspension from school. Check out the letter they wrote below.
When April Stevens, the class’s teacher, sent the letter, she wasn’t expecting a response from the commissioner. To her surprise, two weeks letter they did receive a response, from the commissioner himself!

Manfred was to the point, but the Grade 4 class was ecstatic that the Commish decided to throw them a bone, and respond to their letter.
Although, it still doesn’t explain Bautista’s one-game suspension…
