Earlier this year, a dude in Abilene, Texas, started a GoFundMe campaign with an interesting purpose. He wanted to raise $35,000 to buy Dave Grohl.
That’s right: he wanted to purchase Dave Grohl, the human being, just because Dave seemed like a cool dude who would be fun to hang out with.
The campaign also stipulated that if Dave didn’t want to be bought, then the money was to be used for beer. It was a joke, of course, but people started donating anyway. When donations got a little on the stupid side—that is, more than $1,500—this guy decided to do something proper with the cash.
It will be donated to Austism Speaks, which, of course, helps out people with autism. Great job, Internet. You turn weird things into charitable giving.
