Courtney Barnett, “Elevator Operator”
RIYL: Bouncy but cynical indie-rock
It’s been over a year since Australian musician, Courtney Barnett dropped her debut LP, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, but there’s still plenty of singles to be had from this well crafted LP. The latest comes in the form of a video for the album’s opening track, “Elevator Operator”.
Tylor Dory Trio, “Carried Away”
RIYL: City and Colour mixed with progressive rock
This Edmonton based three-piece is packed with talent and a must-listen. The group is gearing up to record more material, but so far they have put out an EP last year, which received significant radio play. Building a name for themselves in Alberta, the band combined progressive metal with lighter grunge melodies.
Acid Tongue, “Beautiful Disaster”
RIYL: Trippy, and moody garage rock
Seattle rockers, Acid Tongue, are back for the release of their second EP, Beautiful Disaster, due out on August 5th. Having recorded it in London last fall, the band is getting geared up for its release by dropping this video for the EP’s title-track.
Heavy Static, “Andromeda”
RIYL: Poppy, spacey alt-rock
Toronto power-trio, Heavy Static just released this new 70’s sci-fi inspired video for this single off their forthcoming EP, Here Comes the Fear, due out on July 22nd. While only being a band for 2 years, so far, this will be the band’s 2nd EP.
Goblin Cock, “Something Haunted”
RIYL: Stoner metal with just the right amount of prog and hooks
It’s been 7 years since San Diego metal group, Goblin Cock, put out their last album. But if this new single is any indication of how their new LP, Necronomidonkeykongimicon, is going to sound, it will have been well worth the wait. The new LP will be released September 2nd.
