There’s a new fan exhibit in Toronto, and will be featuring a number of props and sets used in the filming of the upcoming summer blockbuster, Suicide Squad.
Part of the Distillery District has been transformed into a setting similar to the Belle Reve Penitentiary. Belle Reve is the prison facility depicted in DC’s Suicide Squad comics and in the upcoming film, slated to hit theatres in Canada on Aug. 5. Along with sets and props from the production, fans will also be able don a “safety suit” costume and take part in character Harley Quinn’s “Smash Room.”
Film stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie attended a media sneak peek Tuesday, where John Tory presented them with framed certificates for being a part of Toronto’s booming film industry.
“We’re very excited to be back at Six,” said Smith, who plays Floyd Lawton/Deadshot in the movie. “We shut down seven blocks (while filming) … and then the Batmobile went around the corner and people went crazy. People were coming out of their houses and literally 5,000 people were lining the streets. We just want to say thank you to T.O. And I think you’ll enjoy pointing out your landmarks.”
The event is free to the public, and is open July 27-28 1-10pm, only. So you better check it out while it lasts!
