A recent study published in The Journal of Psychology of Popular Music says that you can’t spend all kinds of time listening to death-themed music without learning something about yourself.
Specifically, this kind of music helps drive home the point that life is short and then you die—which in turn can foster an attitude of living in the moment and making the most of your time on earth. These findings support a psychological concept called “terror management theory.”
In other words, if you face your fears head on, you’ll have a better chance of conquering them. Science actually that says listening to metal is good for your mental health.
