Netflix is producing a biopic on Barack Obama called Barry.
Barry follows a young Barack Obama, known to his friends as “Barry,” as he arrives in New York City in 1981 to start his junior year at Columbia University. Barry finds himself in a crime-ridden, racially charged environment, all while being pushed and pulled into various social groups.
To top it off, Barry’s in a constant struggle to maintain strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his distant Kenyan father, and his classmates.
It’s a gritty look at the hard issues the world is still struggling with 35 years later.
And it looks dope.
