Kind of/not actually. Researchers at the University of Toronto developed a network to create it’s own Christmas song based on the image of a Christmas tree… Somehow.
Here’s my super dumbed-down explanation of how they did this:
- The program was trained on 100 hours of similar music sourced from the internet.
- The program was given a bunch of captioned images to study so it could know how to describe them, I think.
- The program was given 50 hours of song lyrics to figure out how to put lyrics to music.
And here’s the result:
An eerie and horrible robo-abomination (robomination, if you will).
I’d say “A for effort,” but I don’t want to encourage the bots.
