The movie ‘Life’ came out yesterday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal, and it looks amazing! The premise is pretty simple: Mankind is on the edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As members of the crew conduct their research, the rapidly evolving life-form proves far more intelligent and terrifying than anyone could have imagined.
Cool, right? Science fiction may not be as fictitious as we once thought, after we recently discovered those seven, new earth-like planets that could possibly harbor life. If you’ve got an open mind, it’s not too hard to imagine that life may exist out there in the vast depths of space. There is a hypothesis called ‘Pansperia‘ that suggests life actually exists throughout the universe, distributed by meteroids, asteroids, and comets. I’m sure Carl Sagan would agree…
Now imagine a deadly virus from space, capable of wiping out the human race… Scary? . It could happen at any moment, really (but don’t worry too much yet). According to express.co.uk…
Killer germs like the AIDS-causing HIV, the lethal Ebola and small pox either came from or were supercharged by particles brought to Earth on comets, they said.
They warned the human race faces a catastrophic disease pandemic and even EXTINCTION unless organisms constantly raining down onto our planet are closely monitored.
Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe, of the Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology, said a super-virulent virus was most likely responsible for killing the dinosaurs.
He said: “Over history and evolution lethal viruses have suddenly appeared and disappeared, there is no way they could have originated from Earth.
“What is more plausible is they have entered the atmosphere having been carried by comets before having devastating impacts.
“It is possible that a virus could arrive on Earth and trigger a devastating pandemic or even wipe out humanity, this is the scale of what we think we are dealing with.
Whether you believe in aliens or not, it’s a crazy time to be alive. Stay tuned folks….
Look at Carl, spreadin’ dat life… Cheers buds.
