On the first hot day of June, Deftones, Rise Against and Thrice stormed the Budweiser Stage to remind the fans of one thing: Rock ain’t dead!
It was the triumphant return of Deftones to Toronto, who had to follow-up on a rambunctious set from Thrice. Fans were ecstatic to hear their favourite Deftones-tunes, from “Change (In The House Of Flies)” to “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” and “Rocket Skates”. Lead singer, Chino Moreno, was hitting all of the right notes and belting his screams, like we were back in 2001. Ending on “Rocket Skates” was the best way to accentuate their performance, as well as a great way to segue into the co-headliner, Rise Against.
For Rise Against, it was all about the hits. On the heels of their new album, Wolves, Rise Against made sure to play their new single, “The Violence”, but paid tribute to the longtime fans by playing “Ready to Fall”, “Satelllite”, “Help is on the Way” and “Give It All”. They sounded as good as ever and the Toronto-hiatus felt like no time had passed at all. Rise Against, it has been way too long!
Fans were in it for the long haul, giving it their all through all four-sets. From the first note by Thrice to the last power chord of the night, fans of all ages kicked off their summer with great friends, great times and of course, great music! Summer 2017, here we come!
