The World’s Largest Rubber Duck is making its Canadian debut on Toronto’s waterfront today. It’s 61 feet tall (six stories), 78 feet wide, 89 feet long and weighs 30,000 pounds! Here’s a sneak preview of the duck being brought in…
That’s right – $250,000! Still think it’s cool? If you want to check it out in person, you can head down to HTO Park (339 Queen’s Quay West) during the long weekend. If you’d rather stew at your computer, here’s some more footage of our tax money being dragged – literally – through the water!
Some people have commented that having this giant rubber duck turns the Toronto Habour into a giant bathtub…I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure the Harbour will ever be clean enough for that title. Then again, a bath’s a bath.
The view from close up is actually kind of terrifying though. I would be too afraid of getting slowly run over to get in the water with this duck.
There’s been a lot of negative reactions towards the duck coming to Toronto.
What a waste of taxpayers money. What does a rubber duck, or a duck for that matter have to do with Canada's history?— nelly🇵🇹 (@nelsonfartura) June 30, 2017
However, there are a lot of people looking forward to it as well.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about the duck’s tour around Ontario yet, but I do love how tiny it makes the boats look! Let me know what you think in the comments.
