Astronomers have discovered some strange signals coming from a star that’s only 11 light years away from ours. It’s Ross 128, and it could be another WOW! Signal. (The Wow! signal was a strong narrowband radio signal received on August 15, 1977, by Ohio State University’s Big Ear radio telescope in the United States)
Recently, they believe they’ve figured out what caused the WOW! way back in the day. Turns out it could have been the microwave in the observatory’s kitchen. Lame.
I really want it to be aliens, but like always aliens is at the bottom of the pile of possible sources for the signal. More observations are planned from the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico.
