Tom DeLonge is back in the media with yet another project…maybe? Anyone who’s followed him and his multiple side projects and work since he left blink-182 knows just how busy he keeps. Seriously – he’s had his bands Box Car Racer and Angels & Airwaves, he’s published comics, graphic novels, book series, he produced a TIFF award winning animated short film, he’s working on a live action version of his comics (movie/tv show?), he had an on-going alien-chasing publication, and he started his own companies Atticus and To The Stars… media. And that’s just off the top of my head.
More recently, on July 21st, Tom released a statement on his Facebook page alongside a picture of himself staring (and smirking?) into the camera. Check it out.
First off, it’s kind of strange to introduce yourself on a verified Facebook page you’ve had for years, on which all of your followers know who you are. He also went out of his way to remind everyone that he created “the band called blink-182” with some “buddies.” The letter then goes on to say he has something important coming up…does this mean a blink reunion is on the horizon?! We can hope, but true blink fans know it’s probably never going to happen.
The post also says he will need our attention “for a minute.” Honestly, when doesn’t he need out attention? Tom, I love you, but you are definitely one for the limelight. He writes that it will not be what we are expecting, which is even more confusing…to blink or not to blink? This mysterious project was also apparently “extremely difficult” and not to do with his music. Tom ends the post by claiming that this will be about “…us.”
If it was really about us, you and Mark would kiss and make up – just sayin’.
And then we have the picture. Why? Just so we have to look at his smug face, knowing he has a secret we desperately want be a part of? Probably.
