Hurricane Maria a category 5 storm has began to batter the Caribbean island, hours after the storm obliterated parts of Dominica and killed at least one person in Guadeloupe. Hurricane Maria is the third in a string of devastating hurricanes to sweep through the region in recent weeks. The Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 175 mph (281 kph) is said to smash into the Virgin Islands later tonight and will be hitting Puerto Rico on Wednesday morning. It took just about 15 hours for this storm to go from a category 1 storm to a category 5. The destruction is unreal. Puerto Rican Gov stated that, “No generation has seen a hurricane like this since San Felipe II in 1928.” After Hispañola, Maria may then target the Turks and Caicos Friday.
The aftermath thus far is unreal.
