If you thought $6 for a latte was bad, you might want to avert your eyes. Oh, not to mention if you aren’t interested in consuming something that’s already been digested by another animal.
Kopi Luwak coffee is a delicacy that is consumed and then crapped out by an animal called the Asian palm civet, which kind of looks like a raccoon/sloth/tiny bear situation. Apparently once the coffee beans pass though the digestive tract, it’s broken down by a number of enzymes that release completely new flavours.
A cup of this coffee will run you $55, and a pound is $601.
