Reach back into your memory for this one. What was your first musical memory? That first time you can remember a piece of music lodging itself in your brain.
Was it listening to a particular song on the radio driving with your parents in the car? Could it have been an older relative with a stereo and record collection? A performance by someone at home, at church or somewhere else?
And how far back can you go? Neurologists say that it’s uncommon for adults to remember much before the age of four, but since music is stored in a different part of the brain than regular memories, maybe you can access something even further back?
Give it a think and then leave a comment. I’ll read back some stories on my 6 pm show on The Edge.
