Starting today and running until December 31st you are no longer able to drive along King Street between Bathurst and Jarvis. The transit pilot project aims to make travel more efficient by allowing only pedestrians, cyclists, TTC vehicles, and City of Toronto emergency vehicles access to the stretch of King.

Taxis will also be given limited access between 10pm and 5am daily. Vehicles travelling north and south will still be able to cross King, but left and right turns will be prohibited. Hefty fines are set to be doled out to those breaking the rules, and making an illegal left turn can cost you a $110 fine and two demerit points. It’s said that the area sees 20,000 vehicles daily, as well as approximately 65,000 street car riders. Find out everything you need to know about maneuvering through the changes here.
