The latest Canadian numbers show that vinyl sales are up almost 20% since last year. Record stores are stocking more vinyl than they have since the 90s. Record shows have people lined up to dig through crates.
If you’re caught up in this whole thing, you probably have some strong opinions on what vinyl is worth collecting. Here’s your chance to pontificate in a helpful way. What one album should everyone have in their vinyl collection?
There are so many ways we can go on this. First, there’s the obvious need to have a classic album in your library, just for the music. Or you can consider the artwork and liner notes. Maybe you want to recommend an album for its sonic quality so you can use it to demonstrate how good vinyl can sound. Or maybe there’s some other reason to own a particular record.
Me? I think everyone should own a vinyl version of Radiohead’s In Rainbows, which I consider a triple threat. It’s a great record, comes in a nice package and sounds great played on a good turntable through a good stereo.
Leave your thoughts below and I’ll use your answers on my Tuesday radio show at 6pm.
