Elias, the Canadian band from Vancouver was officially born in 2005. For their Wax Records debut album ‘Lasting Distraction’, the band reunited with producers Sean Penner and Aaron Nordean.

On “Lasting Distraction” as with their previous outings, the band is not embarrassed to wear its influences on its sleeve. From the massive Muse like riffs on ‘Broken Lens’ and “Puzzles” to the Radioheadesque guitar work on ‘Giving Up Never Felt So Good’, to the Peter Gabriel/Paul Simon inspired rhythms on ‘I Hear Drums’, the band draws from a wide swath of British rock royalty. The band’s sound covers a lot of ground, moving from dark to light, from moody to anthemic, driven by Stefan Tavares’ intense drumming, punctuated by Rob Tornroos’ intricate guitar-work and held together by Brian Healy’s piano arrangements and soaring vocals.
