- 150lb person on average loses 100 calories/mile
- Healthy eating is a must – Best to chose smaller portions of high-fat and high calorie foods, eat more whole grains, fibers, fruits, vegetables. Important to keep a journal of calorie consumption and what you eat. Also recommended to eat fruits and vegetables first when eating meals (ie. Start with a salad, will be less tempted to eat more of the high calorie food)
- Don’t skimp on breakfast. Eat a healthy, filling breakfast (cottage cheese, yogourt, apples pears, bagel with non-fat cream cheese) this will actually give you needed energy for a more effective run later
- Keep a strict training schedule – Will help you stay motivated for each work out
- Run Regularly, Make it a priority, Try to get out at least 3-4 times a week/
- Challenge yourself – Try Interval training, Speed runs (burn large amounts of calories in small amount of time, also increases muscle mass and improves metabolism, causing you to burn more calories during the day)
- Get your sleep! 7-8 hours a night, finish eating 2-3 hours before bedtime
- Running outside can also burn up to 10% more calories than running inside
