Fave Toronto Venues
Posted 11/20/2009 12:00:00 PM
We all have our favorite venues in and around the city to go and check out a show and I’m interested in knowing which is your favorite? For example my all time fave venue in Toronto hands down would have to be Massey Hall. It’s a beautiful historic building and not to mention it also has the best sound (at least I think so). Anytime a band I like comes through town and is scheduled to play there I make sure it’s not one I miss it. Some of you might agree with me and think Massey is the best and others may argue it…God knows there are enough great venues in the city for us to pick from like Kool Haus, Mod Club, the Phoenix, Lee’s, Opera House, ACC, Horseshoe, Sound Academy, Molson Amphitheatre which is my favorite outdoor summer venue and many, many more. So tell me which is your favorite and why?

Hands down, Massey Hall. I've seen 4 shows there in different spots and even from the sides, the sound is impeccable. The view is great no matter where you are, unless you're behind a pillar. The staff is friendly and will always show you to your seat, and it's got a sit down bar! What other venue has a snazzy sit down and have a casual conversation bar?

Without a doubt, Massey Hall is number one. Horseshoe is always a great place to see smaller bands that are great. Kool Haus and Sound Academy have done a great job recently of getting larger acts to play smaller venues which is nice and believe it or not but when the ACC was being built they actually brought in acoustic engineers to help design the layout because they would be hosting so many concerts in there. I really like hitting up Lee's for smaller bands and The Phoenix is decent if you don't mind walking through the sketchy neighborhood after the show. Mod Club has fantastic sound and Ricoh Has the worst sound I've ever heard. I've actually avoided concerts because of that places sound. The Amp is alright for an outdoor venue but Center Island is the best (if you don't mind waiting for the boat)...There are so many more too. Now that I think about it, there are lots of great spots to see a show in Toronto...The Danforth music hall, Princess, Elmo...So many.
