102.1 the Edge, Canada’s largest and most influential new rock station, announced today the performers and nominees for the annual CASBY Music Awards in concert with The New Molson Canadian Widemouth Bottle. Presented by 102.1 the Edge, the 2012 CASBYs will be presented on Thursday, September 27 at the Sound Academy in Toronto and will feature performances by some of Canada’s leading new rock artists, including Monster Truck, Yukon Blonde, Young Empires, I Mother Earth, and Big Wreck, plus awards for the Molson Canadian Favourite New Artist, Favourite New Single, Favourite New Album, Favourite Edge Session and the NXNE Favourite New Indie Release.
Representing the best in Canadian new rock, CASBY winners are determined through nationwide fan voting on www.edge.ca. The 2012 CASBY nominees are:

Voting for this year’s CASBY winners begins at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, August 7th and runs until Sunday, September 23rd at 11:59pm on www.edge.ca. To be eligible for a 2012 CASBY Music Award, material must have been released between July 1 2011 and June 31, 2012. Winners will be announced Thursday, September 27 during the CASBY Music Awards at the Sound Academy in Toronto.
The only way to attend the show is to win tickets by listening to 102.1 the Edge, or voting at edge.ca.
CASBY performances will be broadcast live throughout the night on 102.1 the Edge. The entire show will be video streamed live on edge.ca.
Through initiatives like the CASBYs, as well as Edgefest and the edge Sugar Beach Sessions, 102.1 the Edge has earned a reputation as a major force in Canadian talent development, contributing to the commercial breakthrough of some of Canada’s most influential artists, including the Metric, City And Colour, Sum 41, USS, Bedouin Soundclash, Arkells, Tokyo Police Club & The Tragically Hip.
The CASBY Music Awards began in 1981 as an alternative to the Juno Awards and were originally called the U-Knows. Unlike many awards shows, CASBY winners are chosen entirely by the fans. Over the years, CASBYs have been handed out to Alexisonfire, Arcade Fire, Billy Talent, Sam Roberts and many others.
