It's surely something that will make Rob Ford smile, even if only for a minute.
In the first three months of the year, the city posted a surplus of $70 million, thanks to the land transfer tax, lower spending, and TTC fares.
A staff report shows by years end, the surplus will be sitting at less than $100 million, however some councillors are crying foul.
Following the mayor's cost-cutting program that's been under way since January, opponents say the surplus could likely be triple it's estimate.
The report will be presented to the budget committee tomorrow.
