The green light has been given by Milton's town council, to go ahead with the development of the Velodrome to be used as part of the PanAm Games in 2015.
9 of the 11 members on council voted in favour of the structure, which has a price tag of roughly $40 million.
Two of the opposing members, along with a number of residents, fear the structure will be a good idea for the immediate future, but fear it will be looked back upon, as a failure.
The money is being ponied up by all levels of government, including $22 million from Ottawa and Queen's Park, $13.5 million from the private sector, and the remainder coming from development charges to be placed on the taxpayer's back.
