York Regional police say a passerby spotted the dog in the car and contacted mall security.

The fire department was called and they eventually forcibly entered the car but the dog had already fell unconscious.

Officials tried to resuscitate the dog but he succumbed to his injuries and died.

Charged with causing unnecessary suffering to animals is a 21 year old man and a 20 year old woman.
