Firefighters battled a 2 alarm blaze on Stanwood Crescent in the Finch Avenue and Weston Roads area.
They got the call just before 3 this morning after the fire started in a carport and spread to the house and a neighbouring home also suffered damage.
Police say the residents managed to escape unharmed and were sheltered in a city bus as fire crews put out the fire.
