Riverdale Farm will keep its doors open for now, after the mayor's executive committee voted to use taxpayer's money to cover the $493,900 a year cost to keep the farm running.
The Riverdale Farm Coalition were also given the green light to come up with their own private funds to help pay for the farm.
Councillor Pam McConnel said that the group is expected raise $100,000 to help pay for next year's costs.
The decision to pay for the farm came in after the city announced a $150-200 million shortfall in the 2013 budget.
