Fun. (pronounced Fun Period) has swept onto Modern Rock radio with "We Are Young," which is currently Number Two on the chart. The track is from the band's second album, Some Nights, which arrived last month. We asked frontman Nate Ruess if he thought the group's sophomore CD was maybe a little darker-sounding than its first: "I personally do. In comparison to maybe the last album, I see it just as a little more mature, a little more brooding. It's a little less optimistic, but it has these moments of optimism. It just feels like the album has these choruses that are full of optimism and these verses where you're trying to figure it out. I also feel like the album doesn't end with a lot of resolve, which is something that can make for a dark album."
Some Night is Number 11 on this week's Billboard album chart and has sold 161,000 copies since coming out in February.
"We Are Young" features guest vocals from R&B singer Janelle Monae.
Fun. just kicked off a lengthy spring tour that finds the band performing the second of two shows in San Francisco on Thursday night (March 29th). The trek winds down in mid-June with a two-night stand in New York City.
