With all the drama and speculation of the last few months over whether Guns N' Roses was going to reunite and perform at its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this Saturday (April 14th), the induction of other acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys has almost been overlooked.
In contrast to Axl Rose announcing on Wednesday (April 11th) that he was declining his induction, Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith -- who played in Detroit clubs before joining the band -- is appreciate of the whole thing: "I played in those clubs for eight years. Never in my wildest dreams if you had come up to me and said, 'Hey, you know, you're gonna move to California and join the Chili Peppers and then 25 years later you're gonna be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and you're gonna sell millions of records and travel all over the world and blah blah blah blah blah...' I'd have just said, 'You are hiiiiiigh.' So it's beyond my, you know -- I can't really comprehend it too much."
The Chili Peppers are currently touring behind their 10th studio album, I'm With You.
The band will be inducted into the Hall of Fame by comedian Chris Rock.
Besides Guns, the Beasties and the Chili Peppers, other acts going into the Hall in Cleveland this weekend include the Faces/Small Faces, Donovan and Laura Nyro.
