 He's a founding member of one of the world's most popular rock bands, he's one of the most respected guitarists of his era and now he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Slash has yet to fulfill one goal: a chance to appear on Sesame Street. The ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist told Rip It Up, "Sesame Street have never approached me, though I would do it and I love kids. There's no way I'd ever turn Sesame Street down. But I don't know if parents would think I'm the best public influence on little kids?"
- Rip It Up has actually started a Facebook petition lobbying for Slash to appear on the show, pointing out that numerous artists have visited Sesame Street over the years despite personal bad habits or controversies.
- The long-running and beloved PBS children's show, which is about to begin its 43rd season, has featured guests ranging from Richard Pryor to Johnny Cash to Katy Perry, whose revealing wardrobe during her spot raised eyebrows.
- Slash has two young sons, nine-year-old London and eight-year-old Cash, and told us how becoming a father affected his life: ["That was one of the defining moments in my life where I actually turned around and looked at everything from a perspective of sensibility. So it was right at a time where I'd finally come to terms with myself and sort of had figured out where my goals were. And so I got these great two little kids and I just wanna sort of bring 'em up in sort of the rock and roll fashion, which is how I was born, you know, and raised, and they're great."] SOUNDCUE (:21 OC: . . . and they're great.)
- Slash and the rest of Guns N' Roses were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past April, while the guitarist was honored with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last month.
- He and his band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, continue to tour behind his second solo album, Apocalyptic Love, with the group headed to Australia this week before starting a new North American tour on September 4th in San Diego.
