It was a humble beginning for this great Canadian broadcaster.  Born July 1, 1958 in a small town in Alberta and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Who knew they would one day have a #1 rated morning show and be adored by millions of fans.  Yes, Marilyn Denis is a big success.  Dean Blundell on the other hand is not.

Dean’s beginnings were not so much humble as degrading.  Dean’s mother was a fluffer at a sperm bank in Lethbridge.  Ask Dean where his father is, he’ll point in a westerly direction and say "he’s over there, somewhere".

Growing up, Dean wasn’t so much schooled as he was house trained.  At the age of 20 he had three dry days in a row.  As a reward he was allowed to wear big boy pants and go to Toronto to start a radio show.

But he couldn’t do it alone.  He knew he’d need to work with a crack team of media savvy professionals that could put a hit morning show together.  But he couldn’t find anyone so he settled for Todd Shapiro, an unemployed urinal cake sculpture.

Together they started the most outrageous morning radio show Toronto has ever seen.  A show filled with lesbians, hockey players, psychics, politicians, rock stars, asians and blind movie reviewers

This collective, this steaming heap of radio compost has become known as The Dean Blundell Show, and if anyone out there thinks they can do a better job, please contact this station immediately.  There’s always hope that one day the edge will have a morning show that we can all be proud of.
